Elected in 2009 as a Councillor in the Bois-de-Liesse district of the Pierrefonds—Roxboro borough, Dimitrios Jim Beis works for the public service of Dollard-des-Ormeaux. He has almost 25 years of experience in city management as Director of Parks and Recreation and Division Manger of Sports, Recreation and Culture.


He is the co-founder of the West Island Blues Festival (10 years in 2013) raising funds and awareness for local non profit organizations. Co-founder of the Roxboro 60 plus club (20 years in 2013). Board member of On Rock Community Services serving over 170 families a week in need. Past and present member of several school board committees. Chairperson and committee member of the Roxboro Centennial Celebrations (2014).


Dimitrios Jim Beis coached minor sports for a number of years and is involved in many aspects of community life. He is committed to proximity services meeting the needs of the community as well as operating a transparent administrative structure. As a current borough councillor, he has worked to improve sports facilities, roads, security, snow removal. He also developed a Strategic Plan on Sustainable Development, implemented a food drop zone at all summer events to fight hunger in the community, and worked for major renovations of 2 local libraries (2013-2014), among others.

OUR PRIORITIES FOR THE BOROUGH


• Ensure integrity, honesty and transparency while working with our local organizations network to fight hunger, criminality and homelessness

• Find suitable alternatives to cars: implement park and ride shuttles to trains and continue to promote carpooling

• Study the feasibility of building a multi-sports center and continue to build another outdoor municipal pool

• Continue to protect our green spaces and parks and encourage green projects. Review and improve accessibility to our shoreline
